First Star has been developing, publishing and licensing entertainment software since 1982, having created numerous best selling and award winning computer titles including Boulder Dash® and the SPY vs. SPY® series of games. Millions of units of each of the Boulder Dash® and Spy vs. Spy® series have been sold throughout the world. I-Play and First Star co-publish Boulder Dash®-M.E.™ for cell phones worldwide. Close to 800,000 units in the Boulder Dash® mobile series of games were sold prior to the 2009 release of Boulder Dash® Vol. 1 for iPhone/iPod touch (co-published worldwide with Chillingo) and BoulderDash®-ROCKS!™ for J2ME, BREW, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and iPhone/iPod touch (co-published worldwide with Magmic Games).

Within 18 months of First Star’s inception, Warner Software, Inc., a Warner Communications company, acquired a fifty percent ownership in First Star. (Warner Software no longer retains an equity position.) In the company’s formative years management focused heavily on the development and publishing of its own IP as well as licensing rights to properties such as SUPERMAN®, SPY vs. SPY® and ROMPER ROOM® often licensing rights for First Star's titles to third parties, particularly for Europe and Japan.

Currently, First Star develops and publishes games for cellphones; Smart Phones and Windows PCs . Our PC portal publishing partners include: Oberon, Big Fish Games, Play First, Reflexive, WildTangent, Shockwave, Boonty and Indiagames. We often license console and other platform rights to third parties throughout the world while otherwise working with partners to co-publish Flash versions of our games as well as limited, collectors’ editions, as we did for Boulder Dash® (Volumes 1 and 2), Bristles™, Flip and Flop™ and other First Star cartridges for the Atari 5200. First Star Software's Greatest Hits™, is a Windows compendium of 14 of our titles from the 1980s which we publish ourselves.
